TECHNICAL ATELIER  x  DANIEL

The Technical Atelier program at Kit and Ace operated in six showrooms across North America and one in Australia. As the Designer in Residence, Finlan worked in the design studio within Toronto’s flagship showroom. It was here that he closed the design gap between the consumer and head office design team; collecting customer trends, feedback and preferences. This information was incorporated it into the design process involved in creating a garment. Finlan designed, drafted, cut and sewed all pieces by hand. The collections below were created during Finlan’s time in the Technical Atelier.

He wakes up early and is out the door by 7:00 a.m., constantly on the move, responding to emails on the go. He runs errands all day and closes deals with clients over dinner in the evening, all without a hitch. His attire should be effortless—All design details are placed on the garments with precision and, above all else, purpose, to support each part of his entire day. His spring wardrobes features key details such as pockets with grosgrain headphone entryways, microfiber screen cleaning cuffs and Riri locking-zipper welt pockets to deliver maximum functionality to this young professional.

She is on the go the minute she’s up. She has already finished her morning workout and answered 5 emails before 8:00, en route to the office she prepares for meetings and a presentation that will take her into the afternoon, all before she runs several errands and attends a gallery opening that evening —picking her outfit is the easiest decision of the day. A well-fitted turtleneck and a ponte pencil skirt move with her body effortlessly, with removable panels on the skirt for increased versatility. Her wardrobe is carefully curated and complex so that her mornings can be simple; all her individual pieces coordinate, flatter the body and provide an enduring comfort that never sacrifices sophistication.
